Learning from Africa's university hubs
Across Africa, universities have created innovation hubs and demo days where students pitch ideas to investors and partners – for example in Rwanda, Ghana and South Africa. Plasma plans a similar hub for Somali students.
What the hub will offer
Idea to prototype
Mentoring, design thinking and tools to build a first version.
Maker space
Computers, electronics and solar kits for building and testing.
Start-up support
Business plans, legal registration and financial skills.
Demo day
Pitch to businesses, investors and the diaspora at Research Week.
Mixed teams
Health, engineering, business and IT students working together.
Community challenges
Problems set by hospitals, farmers and local government.
Status: the Innovation Hub is part of the university's development plan. Partners and sponsors who want to support it are invited to contact us.
